The Peace hexagram symbolizes the beautiful state where heaven and earth unite and all things flourish. 'The small departs, the great approaches, good fortune and success' indicates that small difficulties pass and great fortune arrives. Legend tells that the era of Yao and Shun embodied the Tai hexagram - wise rulers and virtuous ministers, people living in peace and prosperity. But the Tai hexagram also reminds us to be prepared for danger in times of peace. The I Ching says 'No plain not followed by a slope, no going not followed by a return' - extreme prosperity leads to decline is a natural law, so we must maintain humility and vigilance even in good times.
